Hello and welcome to the Action Camera Review Blog,

My name is Oliver and I’m a designer, sports enthusiast and occasional artist.  The medium of video has always inspired me, but never so much as since the introduction of miniaturised action cameras (AKA helmet cameras, POV cameras, or bullet cameras.)  The unique views that can be achieved with this technology are mind-blowing, offering new perspectives on the world and new artistic possibilities.

But if you’re looking to spend your hard earned cash on an action camera, you’ve got a very difficult decision to make - the competition between the different cameras is pretty hot.  You could ask “what is the best action camera?”  However, there is no clear winner amongst the top contenders, so I think at the moment the question that needs asking is “what action camera best suits my needs?”

The Helmet Hero and Contour HD

I asked myself this question a few months ago and I didn’t readily find a satisfactory answer on website reviews, which either seemed commercially biased, or favoured certain cameras over others only because they better matched a set of esoteric requirements (for example the review tested cameras for suitability only for use in a particular sport).

The Drift HD170 and ATC9K

My website tries to remedy this, by offering impartial advice for anyone looking to buy an action camera.  In Action Camera Review Blog I’ll avoid abstruse terminology and complex explanations, but still try to give a detailed evaluation of the products, scrutinised by a designer’s eye.  I hope you find some useful answers to your burning questions so you’ll make the right decision when buying your action camera.
